4 Steps for the Pathway to Progress

Pathway to Progress

Are you making progress?

If you are stuck, not moving or not making as much progress as you should, then this post is for you, the pathway to achieving progress.

It’s Mid-January 2020, and I’m certain many people may have already slipped back into old habits or are struggling with their new year resolutions.

Don’t feel bad if you are one of such people, you can still get back on track.

I have had a slight dip too but the difference is I was expecting it, I was prepared to challenge and totally refuse any form of doubt, discouragement or distraction.

You must keep moving upward.

You must keep moving forward.

Slow but steady progress is better than no progress.

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you don’t stop.” – Kongzi.

Listed below are 4 steps to help you create a pathway to progress.

1. Prayer

Prayers changes things.

Prayers transform lives.

Praying works.

Prayers do have an important place when it comes to making progress.

See what crosswalk.com writes about prayer:

“Prayer isn’t a ritual that depends on closing our eyes and putting on holy faces. We don’t have to kneel or sit. We can pray while walking, driving, or working. God responds to a two word cry for help in the middle of a busy afternoon, just like He does to a focused prayer time after reading Scripture in the morning. Praying doesn’t have to be complicated. God delights in any simple words we offer Him.”

Recently I was having a chat with my sister and her husband over lunch at Johnnies in Camberwell. We discussed many instances where praying has proved powerful in our lives and in our families.

It’s amazing and I advise that if you haven’t already done so, just tap into praying.

Engage in prayer and embrace it.

2. Position

Where are you?

If it seems like an awkward question to ask, I’ll rephrase.

What is your current situation?

How did you get to where you are now?

You need to assess the situation of things as they are now.
For two reasons.

Firstly, this is likely to trigger the need for a change, help you to recognise the signs and how you got there and help you prevent a recurrence in future.

Secondly, if you don’t know where you are, how will you know where you are going; and if you don’t know where you are going, how would you know when you get there.

It just tells us how important your position and positioning is to progress.

3. Potential

The dictionary definition of Potential is – “latent qualities or abilities that may be developed and lead to future success or usefulness.”

To make progress in life, you need to unlock the potential in you.
You need to know that there is more in you than you know.

Until you decide to be more, you will not become more.

There’s more to you.

There is more capacity for you to stretch beyond what you currently are. This cannot be all that you are made of and made for.
There are dormant skills in you that need to awake.

There are qualities awaiting to be put to use.

There are talents in you that you are yet to discover.

You need to tap into yourself and be true to yourself.

Are you growing?

4. Passion

Passion is the fuel that keeps your purpose and vision alive.

See previous post about vision.
The fire won’t burn without fuel.

The engine won’t run without fuel or energy.
Passion is the fuel and the energy and you need it to keep moving.
To get something out of life you must at least be a little bit passionate.

You must be passionate about your dreams, goals, the person you are and the person you are becoming.

It takes passion not to sit around waiting for things to happen but to go and create your dreams.

If you can’t fly, run.

If you can’t run, walk.

If you can’t walk, crawl.

Any movement is better than no movement.
